Introduction

Arthritis, a disease that causes joint inflammation, touches the lives of over 4 millions Canadians and their families. It is estimated that, by 2016, over 6 million Canadians will be living with arthritis1.

In support of the need for further research and improved access to care, ACAP established three initiatives:

OA Consensus Conference

Attracting over 200 people in 2002, the conference captured the ongoing dialogue amongst stakeholders to identify research questions and priorities for Osteoarthritis. The next conference is set for 2006. To learn more, click here.

Frontiers of Inflammatory Joint Diseases

This 2004 conference showcased current research in the area of Inflammatory Joint Diseases (such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis), embraced Canada’s strategic niche in global arthritis research and defined research questions and priorities.
